Donald Trump has promised American voters a payment of about £3,700 ($5,000) each, on the condition that Republicans hold on to both chambers of Congress in November.

The president made the pledge on Wednesday, 9 September 2026, at the Republican National Committee's first-ever midterm convention in Dallas, telling the hall the money would be called the Trump dividend.
