'If I pushed any harder, my legs would have gone straight' - Lone pursuit of Sigrid Haugset at Tour de France Femmes falls painfully short for Lotte Kopecky

Tour de France Femmes stage 3: Lotte Kopecky in lone pursuit of Sigrid Haugset.

So near yet so far. Lotte Kopecky's solo pursuit of lone breakaway Sigrid Haugset on stage 3 of the Tour de France Femmes came desperately close to seeing the Belgian star make contact with the race leader, and perhaps battle for the day's win, but it was not to be.

When Haugset continued on a historic 85-kilometre breakaway, that eventually landed her the stage win and the overall race lead, Kopecky set off alone behind her. At one point, the SD Worx-Protime racer singlehandedly reduced Haugset's advantage from well over a minute to just 10 seconds. However, despite the Belgian's tenacious pursuit, that was to be as good as it got.
