Idrissa Gueye has sent a promising signal to Everton fans as his Goodison Park return edges closer.
The 32-year-old is expected to be announced as a Toffees player soon. It remains to be seen whether the midfielder could be signed and registered in time to be available against Aston Villa on Saturday.
Frank Lampard and Kevin Thelwell have been working hard to secure a deal for another midfielder at the opposite end of his career, announcing on Tuesday that they had paid around £33million for 20-year-old Amadou Onana from Lille. But it was a certain Senegal veteran in the comments that caught the eye of Evertonians.

On the Everton Instagram post announcing Onana's arrival, Gueye commented underneath with three flame emojis.
Gueye’s much-anticipated return to Merseyside - for a fraction of the £30million he was sold for in 2019 - will be completed in the coming days, according to reports. Conor Coady looks set for a place in the first-team squad at the weekend following his loan move from Molineux.
The PSG midfielder will become Everton’s sixth major signing this summer, following Coady, Onana, James Tarkowski, Dwight McNeil and Ruben Vinagre. Thelwell and his team remain hopeful of adding further strength upfront in a bid to ease the burden on Salomon Rondon and insure against Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s injury problems.
