Idris Elba has joined the sequel of a popular Netflix film, which releases this month.
The actor will reunite with Thor partner Chris Hemsworth in the action-packed Extraction 2. It follows Chris as contract killer Tyler Rake, who nearly lost his life in the first film.
But he's returned from the dead - after being clinically deceased for nine minutes - and he's already poised for another mission. A mysterious man in a suit makes him an offer he simply can't refuse.

That man is portrayed by Luther star Idris, kicking off the sequel's plot. Netflix released a short clip, teasing Idris' role in the film - you can watch it below.
Joining Chris and Idris is Body of Lies and Pirates of the Caribbean Five star Golshifteh Farahani, who returns as private military contractor Nik Khan. Adam Bessa, whose roles include Reda in The Blessed and Abbas Naziri in the Amazon Prime Video series Hanna, reprises his character Yaz Khan.
Meanwhile James Bond and Black Widow actress Olga Kurylenko, action star Daniel Bernhardt and actress and model Tinatin Dalakishvili join the cast.
As to be expected, Extraction 2 will be full of thrills, flames and fights. The film, with screenplay from Joe Russo, also contains a 21-minute prison-break sequence, crafted to look like a single, unbroken shot.
Director Sam Hargraves revealed to Empire Online that Chris was actually set on fire 'over and over' to get the desired takes. He told the publication: “For me, the image of Chris Hemsworth beating the s**t out of a bunch of prisoners, while on fire, in the snow was something that I couldn’t pass up. And hats off to Chris. It wasn’t CG fire. And he had to do it over and over.”
Talking to Netflix, Sam said of the sequel: "The goal was to dive deeper into the backstory of Tyler Rake and find out what makes him tick.
"We felt we owed it to the audience to give them more insight into what it is that drives him. So, we introduce some new characters that bring his past into greater focus and learn more about where he’s coming from and why he’s doing what he’s doing."
Extraction 2 comes to Netflix on Friday, June 16.
