Groovebox festival is making its return to Colwick Park this weekend with DJ sets from actor Idris Elba and English songwriter, Jax Jones. The festival will take place this Saturday, July 9 with over 5,000 music fans expected to be in attendance.
The line-up sees the return of Luther star, Idris Elba, to Nottingham to play a DJ set. While he is best known for his TV roles, Elba has earned a reputation as a DJ and recently played at NG1 earlier this year. He will be joined by other well-known DJs such as Jax Jones, Solardo, Bad Boy Chiller Crew, Judge Jules, Lovely Laura and Ben Santiago, David Penn and Sosa.
There will also be performances from entertainers at the park including fire breathers and stilt walking. Visitors will be able to go on fairground rides and there will be a special VIP area with celebrity appearances for those with passes.

No festival is complete without street food and there will be a number of options available on-site including Mexican tacos, Jamaican jerk chicken, a steak bar, waffle stand and an ice cream van. There will also be a whole bar dedicated to prosecco and cocktails.
This year will see the introduction of three stages: Sola – Hosted by Solardo, Idris Elba and Sosa, Groove – Hosted by Jax Jones and Bad Boy Chiller Crew and Tales of Ibiza – Hosted by Judge Jules, Lovely Laura and Ben Santiago, David Pen.
Promoter Saul Morgan and organiser Nick Howdle are responsible for Groovebox which started out as an event held in a car park. It has since grown to the residency at NG1 and also the festival. Groovebox has been running for around two years with a residency at NG1 although it started out as a night run in the car park of the Irish centre.
Organiser Saul Morgan said: "There will be 3 different fairground rides, as well as some entertainers inc acrobats, fire breathers, stilt walkers, and dancers firing off some sparks in the main arenas. We have hair braiding and glitter station, a large funky VIP arena hosted by Aces with a few celebs already booked in, and a whole bar dedicated to prosecco and cocktails. Some huge props are designed especially for the festival for those Instagramable photos. With the sun shining its sure to be an incredible day. We also have phone charges and lockers."
There may be some disruption to traffic from festival-goers attending the day-long event but there will be parking available at Racecourse Road, Racecourse Park and Ride just outside the festival.
