In Caroline Glick’s Cold Open this week, she discusses the Israe Defense Forces’ operation in Jenin. It’s a tactical operation with limited but significant potential, which Caroline analyzed. In brief, the operation can degrade the Palestinians’ operational capabilities and diminish the massive nature of their terror assaults which have reached the levels of dozens of attacks of all types each day. But due to strategic disparities between the IDF and the government, there is no possibility that Israel will undertake an operation with lasting significance.
The second topic on the agenda is Israel’s anarchist left’s escalating protests and acts of mayhem and violence. On Monday morning, they blocked traffic into and out of Israel’s main port in Haifa. In the afternoon they caused mayhem at Ben-Gurion International Airport. The left is also escalating violent protests, and acts of intimidation and assault against government ministers and coalition Knesset members outside their private homes at hotels and vacation resorts. Acting on instructions from Attorney General Gali Baharav Miara, the police is taking no action against either the planners or ground forces of the groups that have now dubbed themselves the Kaplan Force.
From the local arena, Caroline moved to the regional and Israel-U.S. arena. The third issue on the agenda is Robert Malley’s ouster due to apparent security infractions from his position as U.S. envoy for negotiations with Iran. As Caroline demonstrates, Malley’s unannounced departure in April or May has made no impact on the nuclear appeasement policy the Biden administration has adopted towards Iran.
Finally, Caroline discussed the U.S. role (mis)managing the Abraham Accords. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken’s appointment of Obama’s former U.S. Ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro to the new position of envoy to the Abraham Accords does not indicate a change in the administration’s overall effort to subordinate Israel-Arab peace to the Palestinian conflict against Israel.
