The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conducted a raid on a school in northern Gaza, alleging that Hamas militants had gathered there. The IDF stated that it had intelligence indicating that fighters were present inside the building, which was formerly known as the 'Al-Harthani' School in Beit Lahia.
According to the IDF, the troops engaged in operations to eliminate terrorists through aerial strikes and close-quarters encounters. The IDF reported that Hamas militants fired anti-tank missiles at the troops from the Indonesian Hospital during the operation. Additionally, the IDF claimed to have captured numerous Hamas fighters and transferred them to Israeli territory for further interrogation.
In response to Israel's actions in Beit Lahia and Jabalya in northern Gaza, Hamas issued a statement condemning the assaults and calling for an end to what they described as 'massacres and starvation.' Hamas accused Israel of escalating its attacks on Beit Lahia, leading to violent shelling and continuous targeting of the area, prompting calls for the local population to evacuate.
Despite reaching a ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah in Lebanon, Israel has continued its offensive operations against Hamas in Gaza.
