Police in Idaho have said that the murder weapon used to kill four University of Idaho students is believed to be a fix-blade knife.

On 13 November Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin, were stabbed to death at the off-campus home.

Investigators said that Goncalves also may have had a stalker.

“Investigators have looked extensively into information they received about Kaylee Goncalves having a stalker. They have pursued hundreds of pieces of information related to this topic and have not been able to verify or identify a stalker,” Moscow police said in a Facebook post.

More than one week later, investigators continue to be baffled by the case, with no arrests made and no suspects identified - spurring mounting frustration from families and the community.

Police have also ruled out any connection between the murders and another incident on 21 November when a woman reported a man sitting in the front seat of her vehicle.

“Online reports created immediate speculation that implied there was a link to this incident with the ongoing homicide investigation,” the police said.
