Fans of the iconic TV series The Sopranos have a unique opportunity to own a piece of television history as Holsten’s in Bloomfield, New Jersey, is auctioning off the original booth featured in the final scene of the show. The booth, where characters Tony Soprano and his family sat, has already garnered a top bid of over $76,000 on eBay, with two days remaining for potential bidders.
The ice cream parlor made the announcement on its official Instagram page, stating that it was time to part ways with the seats that actors Edie Falco, Robert Iler, and the late James Gandolfini once occupied during the dramatic conclusion of the series. The booth, which has become a symbol of nostalgia for fans, is undergoing a much-needed renovation, prompting the auction.
The owners of Holsten’s expressed reluctance in letting go of the iconic booth, citing structural concerns and the need to prioritize customer safety. The listing includes both red seats, the wooden table, the divider wall, and a plaque that reads 'Reserved for the Sopranos Family,' while the jukebox on the table is not part of the sale.
Co-owner Chris Carley acknowledged the emotional attachment to the booth, which has been a fixture at the establishment since 1973. Despite the sentimental value, the decision to replace the booth was driven by safety considerations and the desire to maintain the authenticity of the filming location.
The eBay auction is set to close on Monday at 10 p.m., giving fans a final opportunity to bid on the original Sopranos booth. Customers can visit Holsten’s on Sunday or Monday to experience the booth one last time before it is replaced with a new version designed to closely resemble the original.
