AN iconic Scottish attraction has been named as one of the UK’s top “bucket list” destinations.
Edinburgh Castle was the only place in Scotland to make the list of Compare the Market’s “top 10 most popular bucket list landmarks in the UK”.
The team used analysis of the number of Google searches and Instagram posts to find the 10 most popular destinations across the UK.
In total, eight of the attractions were in England, with one in Wales and one in Scotland.
Overall, Edinburgh Castle came in ninth place, with 165,000 average monthly searches and 729,003 Instagram hashtags.
The detail found that Big Ben in London ranked as the UK’s most popular bucket list landmark, with over 3.5 million Instagram posts.
The full top 10 is as follows:
- Big Ben (London)
- London Eye (London)

Anna McEntee from the life insurance team with Compare the Market said: "Creating a bucket list, even just for the year ahead, is a fantastic way to form exciting new experiences in your life.
"By visualising your goals and putting them on paper, you're more likely to take action and make them a reality.
"Start by thinking about experiences that bring you joy, challenge you, or simply spark your curiosity.
"Then, prioritise your list based on feasibility and budget. Remember, a bucket list shouldn't be a source of stress, but a source of motivation."
