In news that shatters my late-night shopping plans, the decades-old fashion retailer, Glue Store, will be shutting its doors. There’ll always be Kmart, I guess.
The closure was announced by Glue’s parent company, Accent Group, which said in an ASX statement today that the store is “unprofitable”. That’s money-speak for “Flop!”

The full closure comes after Accent Group’s decision to shutter 17 Glue stores across the country in 2024. Now, the remaining 16 stores will be axed entirely.
“The company has made the decision to cease the operations of Glue Store,” Accent Group said. It’s unclear at this stage how many Glue employees will lose their jobs.
For anyone looking to scoop up a bargain, you have until June 30 to fill up your bags at the closing down sales, Rebecca Bloomwood-style.

As for how “unprofitable” Glue had become, the retailer reported a loss of $8.4 million in the first half of the 2026 financial year, which puts a figure to all the times we were truly “just browsing” before ducking to the food court for 11 sushi rolls.
Accent Group also operates a range of other popular Aussie retailers like Athlete’s Foot, Platypus, and Sketchers, which it said would be expanded and prioritised after Glue’s closure.
The conglomerate acquired Glue in 2021, with the first-ever store opening in Melbourne way back in 1999. That’s a pretty impressive run, but at least we can snag a few cheeky closing down sales.
