Iceland shoppers have been raving about a £1 food item that they say “tastes better than KFC”. Customers say the item helps them create the perfect 'fakeaway', saving them money on ordering fast food during the cost of living crisis.
The product is the Iceland own-brand Southern Fried Chicken Gravy, which costs £1 in stores and online, and has attracted numerous five star reviews. It comes in 300g packets and is enough to serve three people, WalesOnline reports.
One delighted customer wrote: “I love this gravy it's just like the KFC one, it's lovely I absolutely love it". A second added: "This was a tasty side. For a quick and easy fakeaway we had this with special fried rice, fries, and salt and pepper chicken strips all from Iceland".

A third said: "Omg this gravy is the best, nicer than KFC", and a fourth person wrote: “This gravy is lovely, we really liked it.” Another said: “Tastes nice, as others have said similar to a 'popular takeaway'!”
The gravy was also reviewed by YouTube food influencer Bald Foodie Guy, who said it was “peppery, salty, and definitely tasty”. He added: “It is definitely not like KFC gravy. It is not as tasty as KFC gravy but it was tasty nevertheless. It was peppery, very peppery - but I like pepper.”
When he then dipped a southern fried chicken drumstick into the gravy, he exclaimed: “Did it work? All I can say is Yes. That was really lovely together. Wow. What a real marriage made in heaven — southern fried chicken drum sticks with southern fried chicken gravy.”
Iceland's Southern Fried Chicken Gravy can be bought for £1 online and in store. It can be heated in the microwave in just five minutes.
