'Ice thaws' as Wong lands for China talks

Penny Wong has met with Australia's ambassador to China as she prepares to break a four-year diplomatic freeze during a visit to Beijing.

The foreign minister made her appointment with Graham Fletcher at the city's Diaoyutai State Guesthouse her first order of business on Wednesday ahead of a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
