Ice cream sellers slapped with fine after they were caught trading without permission in County Durham

Ice cream sellers have been slapped with a hefty fine after they were repeatedly caught trading without permission in a County Durham seaside town.

Multiple complaints were made about ice cream vans belonging to Major Singh between March and June 2021. Durham County Council's licensing team received its first complaint about an ice cream van parked outside of a school in Seaham in March last year.

Checks revealed the vehicle belonged to Mr Singh, 46, of North Field Drive, Newcastle who did not hold a valid street trading licence. The council’s licensing team subsequently issued a warning letter to him.
