ICC Test Player Rankings: Jasprit Bumrah surges to fourth, Virat Kohli climbs to sixth

NEW DELHI: Australia's dominant series win against Pakistan in Sydney and the historic India-South Africa Test at Newlands have triggered noteworthy changes in the ICC Men's Test rankings, as per the updated rankings released on Wednesday.

In the bowling department, India's premier pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, surged to the fourth spot (787), surpassing his compatriot Ravindra Jadeja.

Mohammed Siraj's exceptional performance, claiming 6/15 and 1/31, propelled him 13 places higher to secure his career-best 17th rank (661).

South Africa's Lungi Ngidi climbed nine spots to take the 28th place, while Australian skipper Pat Cummins claimed the second spot (858), overtaking Kagiso Rabada.

Cummins' teammate Josh Hazlewood climbed to the tied seventh spot (761) in the bowlers' rankings from 11th spot, tying with England's James Anderson.

In the batting rankings, Australia's Marnus Labuschagne climbed to the fourth spot (802), while Steve Smith maintained a firm grip on the third position (818).

Pakistan's wicketkeeper, Mohammad Rizwan, advanced 10 places to reach the 17th spot after his impressive knocks of 88 and 28. Aiden Markram entered the top 20 (667) after his resilient century on the challenging Newlands surface.

Indian batsmen Virat Kohli (775) and Rohit Sharma (748) moved to the sixth and tenth positions, respectively.

In the ODI format, Sri Lanka's series against Zimbabwe witnessed significant movements in the rankings. Sri Lankan spinner Maheesh Theekshana achieved a career-high rating (634) and an 11th rank after claiming four wickets across the matches. Sri Lanka's batter Charith Asalanka, with 101 runs, entered the top 20 in the batting rankings.
