MUMBAI: Former BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah has a solution for halting this recent trend in India of making spinner-friendly pitches on which Test matches are finishing inside three days on a regular basis now. He wants the International Cricket Council to stop conducting the World Test Championship.
"The ICC should stop the WTC. Just to get into the WTC final or win the trophy, people are taking away all the good things of a Test. It has taken away all the good things, the charm of a Test match. People love and enjoy a five-day contest. Players also enjoy a match in which batsmen make a big score, bowlers earn, sometimes struggle to get wickets. Sometimes, a batsman hits a triple hundred. People can catch up with action anytime during a five-day match," Shah told TOI from Rajkot.
