ICC issues arrest warrants for Netanyahu, Gallant & Hamas leader

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu & Ex-defence Minister Yoav Gallant

Hague: The International Criminal Court (ICC) today issued arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former defence Minister Yoav Gallant and Hamas leader Ibrahim Al-Masri for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity, the Hague-based ICC said.

ICC judges said there were reasonable grounds to believe Israeli PM and former defence Minister were criminally responsible for starvation in Gaza and the persecution of Palestinians.

ICC issues statement
"With regard to the crimes, the Chamber found reasonable grounds to believe that Mr Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel at the time of the relevant conduct, and Mr Gallant, Minister of Defence of Israel at the time of the alleged conduct, each bear criminal responsibility for the following crimes as co-perpetrators for committing the acts jointly with others: the war crime of starvation as a method of warfare; and the crimes against humanity of murder, persecution, and other inhumane acts," the ICC said in a statement.

The Chamber also found reasonable grounds to believe that Netanyahu and Gallant each bear criminal responsibility as civilian superiors for the war crime of intentionally directing an attack against the civilian population, it added.

ICC also issues warrant against Hamas leader

The warrant for Al-Masri lists charges of mass killings during the Oct. 7, 2023, attacks on Israel that caused the ongoing war. The prosecution indicated it would continue to gather information with respect to his reported death.
