Ian Wright claims a player-plus-cash offer is the best way for Manchester United to prise Harry Kane from boyhood club Tottenham.
The Red Devils recently stepped up their long-standing interest in the England captain after making a centre-forward their summer transfer priority. Kane, 29, has entered the final 18 months of his Spurs contract and is open to signing another deal, but speculation over his future will continue to rage until he puts pen to paper.
United know it will take a huge offer to convince Daniel Levy to sell the Tottenham talisman, so Wright suspects a swap deal may be the way to make headway. The pundit believes as a package of £60million plus Anthony Martial - who has struggled for form and fitness at Old Trafford this season - would be a "great deal" for all involved.
"If Man United came now, Harry Kane with a year left, let's say they put £60million on the table and we'll throw in someone - Martial, whatever - it's a very good deal," the Arsenal legend told his Wrighty's House podcast.
"If Man United have got any serious thinking about what we need to do next, it's a No.9. It seems like a no-brainer that Harry Kane is the person. He takes them somewhere else."
Kane has been in typically-prolific form this season, registering 18 goals and three assists in all competitions. His most recent strike came against Fulham on Monday, when he drew level with White Hart Lane legend Jimmy Greaves on 266 goals in all competitions in a Spurs shirt.
Meanwhile, United have relied on the brilliance of left-winger Marcus Rashford for goals in recent weeks. Wout Weghorst has been brought in on loan as a temporary solution at centre-forward but is yet to open his account for the Red Devils.

Wright has no doubt United's lack of a prolific striker cost them dearly as they fell to a dramatic 3-2 defeat at Arsenal last Sunday. In contrast to the visitors, the Gunners had Eddie Nketiah - who has come into the side in place of injured Gabriel Jesus - firing on all cylinders to score a double.
"One of the main differences was Eddie Nketiah, a No.9," Wright said of the Premier League thriller at Emirates Stadium. "That's what Man United didn't have because they had Weghorst up there but he wasn't a threat.
"If we're going to be totally honest, he was not a threat. When you're looking at Man United's trajectory at the minute and where they're moving, Harry Kane for three years. I think Man United would definitely be doing something because Man United are not a million miles away with what Ten Hag's doing."
