Ian Wright makes Harry Kane claim with Tottenham striker linked to Premier League rivals

Ian Wright has claimed that ‘any team in the world’ would want Harry Kane and urged Liverpool to sign the Tottenham striker. The 28-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City last summer but remained in north London, with Spurs not entertaining any bids for his services.

City have thrived this season despite failing to land Kane, however they are expected to test the Lilywhites' resolve to hang on to their talisman again this summer. And they could face competition from Manchester United who reportedly want him to replace Cristiano Ronaldo, amid speculation that the Portuguese forward will leave the club at the end of the season.

Kane has spent his entire career at Tottenham but is yet to win a major trophy and Wright hopes that he finally gets his hands on some silverware but hinted that he may need to leave north London in order to do so.

"You can see why teams would want him [Harry Kane], any team in the world would want him. Just look at his finishing and his hunger and his consistency," he said on The Kelly and Wrighty Show.

“When he does finally retire, you just hope he’s won something. I hope he can win something because he deserves it. He looks happier now but he has a big decision to make.”

Wright also claimed that Liverpool would be the ideal destination for Kane, insisting that he not only would effortlessly link-up with their star-studded attack but that he would also be an upgrade on Roberto Firmino, who has been linked with a move away from Anfield after falling down the pecking order.

He added: "Imagine Harry Kane at Liverpool… If I had the capability of getting Kane and putting him in Liverpool’s side with [Mohamed] Salah, or [Sadio] Mane or [Luis] Diaz and playing as the number nine, dropping deep and doing his stuff…

"It won’t be how Firmino does it, those lovely bit of skills and stuff, but Kane can drop in and help create because the two could run behind. If it was available to me, I would definitely look at it because it’s Harry Kane, and he will score.

"People talk about Firmino and the fact he doesn’t score enough goals, he misses too many chances. Harry Kane doesn’t miss those chances."

Liverpool fans will have the chance to assess Kane again before the end of the season, with Jurgen Klopp's side due to meet Tottenham at Anfield in early May.
