Ian Wright has told Alexandre Lacazette what he must do to help Arsenal secure top four finish

Ian Wright has said that he would like to see Alexandre Lacazette take up more advanced positions on the pitch to help Arsenal score more goals in their quest for top four.

The Gunners welcomed Wolves to the Emirates Stadium on Thursday night in what was a crucial Premier League encounter.

Mikel Arteta's side were 1-0 down in the early exchanges following a huge mistake by Gabriel Magalhaes, but they responded well in the second-half. Substitute Nicolas Pepe netted a clever equaliser before Jose Sa scored an own goal in the dying embers of the clash to give Arsenal an important 2-1 win.

The victory leaves the north London outfit just one point behind fourth-placed Manchester United, who have played two more league fixtures. They now have more than a week to prepare for a visit to local rivals Watford, who are currently sitting in the relegation places - a game they're expected to win.

Nonetheless, Wright thinks they need to add more goals to their game heading into the business end of the season.

"Ben White and Gabriel, the partnership is starting to work very well, like Partey and Xhaka," Wright told Premier League Productions, as cited by the Daily Mail.

"We just need a little bit more going forward. Odegaard, for me, is the glue for everything.

"We need more goals, we definitely need more goals.

"I’d like to see more goals from someone like Lacazette. I think some of the time he’s coming way too deep. We need a focal point because we’ve got players who can run off of him.

"I’d like him to stay up there a little bit more, we know he has to link but stay up there a little bit more, give us someone to hit."

However, Arteta was thoroughly impressed with the striker's determined attitude against Wolves, especially considering how uncertain his future is.

The Arsenal manager said: "When I see our striker in the 85th minute, chasing a full-back in the corner flag, winning the ball back, playing, going, fighting, missing one chance, missing two chances, going again. What can I do?

"I can only praise him and try to help him as much as possible and give him support. At the end he got the reward. For me, it's Lacazette's goal.

"We don't know what is going to happen at the end of the season. What he needs to do is put aside that future.

"There's nothing to tell him but to praise him, because every single day he behaves like someone that wants to stay with us."
