Ian Wright and Rio Ferdinand agree on Gabriel Jesus amid Arsenal transfer links

Gabriel Jesus is the latest striker to be linked with a summer transfer to Arsenal as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his attacking options at the end of the current campaign.

The Manchester City forward has been in and out of Pep Guardiola 's starting line-up this season and football.london understands that he is one of the names on the north Londoners' shortlist of centre-forwards, with technical director Edu discussing a potential move with the player's representatives in recent months. Now, Arsenal icon Ian Wright appears to have given his seal of approval on a potential move, heaping praise on the Brazilian international after he netted four goals against Watford last weekend.

Speaking about Jesus' display on the Wrighty's House Podcast, Wright said: “A complete performance, people will say that it’s Watford and they give you time and space.

"That’s how Jesus plays, he’s everywhere, and everywhere he pops up he knows exactly what he’s doing in that part of the pitch. He's elite, another elite player, and he’s clutch as well."

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has also made it no secret of his admiration for Jesus, hailing the 25-year-old during BT Sport's coverage of City's 4-3 win against Real Madrid on Tuesday night, a game in which the talented frontman scored in again.

"I think he [Jesus] falls into the category of where some fans think he is not a No.9 for Manchester City, but I guarantee if you ask all the players in that City dressing room and asked would you have him in their team, of course you would", Ferdinand said. "He works hard, he is committed, he scores goals and drags players out to create space for other players."
