Love Island’s Iain Stirling has weighed in on the ‘middle-aged’ spin-off series that is heading to screens. Last week, it was revealed that a casting call had gone out for The Romance Retreat, which has been described as “the ONLY dating show where single parents can search for love, by spending time in a luxury retreat, where all the parents have been nominated by their grown-up children.” Read more about that here.
During an interview on BBC’s The One Show, the 34-year-old comedian and Love Island narrator remained coy when asked about the spin-off. Upon being asked by fellow guest Robert Rinder: “Is there going to be a middle-aged Love Island?” Iain replied: “I am not trusted with any of this information because as people that know me... I will tell you."
He added: I think it's a good idea, middle-aged Love Island, absolutely. Imagine that, think of the baggage, emotional and actual.”
Meanwhile, turning to this year’s series, Iain also remained tight-lipped about who was leaving the villa next. Six Islanders are all at risk of being dumped from the island in Wednesday's, January 25 episode. After being asked for the Islanders’ identities by hosts Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas, Iain simply said that “someone is” leaving the show before adding that it is a “good-looking, young person”.

Iain has been the voice of ITV2 dating show Love Island since 2015. During that time, the show has seen three main presenters, including the late Caroline Flack, Iain’s wife Laura Whitmore and current host Maya Jama.
As mentioned, Iain’s wife Laura was the former host of Love Island. The couple’s daughter was born in late March 2021. Following the end of the last series, the 37-year-old Irish presenter announced she’d be stepping down from the show. Sharing the news on her Instagram last year, Laura wrote: "Some news! I won't be hosting the next series of Love Island. There are certain elements of the show I've found very difficult that cannot be changed some due to the format, including the flying back and forth to South Africa along with my new conflicting projects.
