IAF Jawan, Father Allegedly Assaulted by Wedding Procession in UP’s Bulandshahr

According to a police complaint, the incident occurred around 5:00 pm on the Amargarh–Jahangirabad road when Jitendra Singh and his son, Pratham, were returning home after attending a family function.

In his complaint, Jitendra Singh — a resident of village Khandoi under Narsena Police Station in Bulandshahr — stated that he was travelling from Khandoi to his residence in New Pushta Bazaar, Jahangirabad, after attending his cousin’s engagement ceremony.

The two allegedly encountered a wedding procession led by Akash Sharma, a resident of Amargarh, which was moving along the same road with loud music from a DJ system. Several relatives and others were reportedly accompanying the procession.

Singh alleged that members of the procession were intoxicated and dancing in the middle of the road while holding liquor bottles. When he honked his car to make way, they allegedly began abusing him and his son.

The situation escalated when Singh objected to the alleged verbal abuse. In his complaint, he named Ashok Sharma and Akash Sharma as having attacked them with iron and steel rods. He further alleged that Dharmendra, Sachin, Saurabh, Vishal, and Vivek assaulted both him and his son with sticks (dandas) with an intention to kill.

“As a result, both the applicant and his son sustained serious injuries. Due to the injuries, the applicant fell unconscious on the road,” the complaint states.

Singh also alleged that during the assault, his and his son’s wristwatches and a gold chain broke and were lost at the scene.

According to the complaint, local residents gathered at the spot during the incident, following which the accused allegedly fled while issuing threats to kill them.

Jitendra Singh identifies himself as a government school teacher, while his son serves in the Indian Air Force. Police are yet to release an official statement regarding the matter.
