The General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency has been elected, by a majority of votes, to become a member of IAEA's Board of Governors.
The Kingdom received the majority of votes from its geographical group, which includes countries of the Middle East and South Asia, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The Board of Governors, which consists of 35 members, is considered one of the most important decision-making tools in the Agency, SPA said.
The Board plays an important role in deciding on critical issues, mainly verifying the peaceful activities of the state parties to the Non-Proliferation Treaty, it added.
