Have you ever wished you could work in Santa's workshop? Well, this could be your chance. A young adventurer has shared how she snagged a job in Lapland - and what it is like working in the winter wonderland at Christmas. The festive fan is known for sharing budget travel hacks on TikTok, and she's delighted viewers with her recent videos, filmed during a six-week stint in Finland.
From days spent playing with huskies and taking ski breaks to nights spent watching the Northern Lights, the job looks idyllic, so long as you can put up with -25°C temperatures. Luckily, for anyone who fancies it themselves, the Lapland ranger has opened up about the application process. As you might expect, there's a very important trait all the workers must share - and Grinches need not not apply.
Posting as @_footluce, Lucy explained how she secured her coveted role after applying through Work a Season, which advertises seasonal roles including a Santa's Lapland elf or ranger.
"I heard about this job via a girl on a travel Facebook group, so I messaged her and I was asking more about it and she was telling me about the roles and what I should go for," she said. "I applied to be a Santa's Lapland ranger, and about a month after I applied I got invited to group interview online and I did that. I also had to send a creative submission video on why I'd be good at the role."
In a follow-up video, Lucy added: "To get a job in Lapland you really don't need any qualifications, but what you do need is to love Christmas, like working with children, and be a positive and upbeat person."
She noted that workers who have previously been involved with PGL, Scouts or any similar programmes may have an advantage though it is not necessary experience for all.
Unfortunately, if this sounds like the job for you, you'll have to wait until next year to apply, as Santa's Lapland is not currently advertising any vacancies. Lucy secured her job after applying in June, so be sure to check again soon.
