A new Hawaiian eatery in Dublin city centre has opened recently and its fresh ingredients and delicious flavours are like getting transported to a tropic summer island.
Poke bowls have become all the rage in the States and it looks like they are becoming trendy in Ireland as well. The popular Hawaiian dish typically consists of rice with fresh veggies, seaweed, raw salmon or tuna and a sauce of choice on top. Those who love sushi, or healthy food in general, will probably fall in love with poke too.
Seasoned poke bowl fans in Dublin probably already know about the Hawaiian eatery Shaka Poke in Blackrock. But those living or working in the city centre will be thrilled to know that their new location on Baggot Street is just as good, offering poke bowls, acai bowls and nitro coffee.
We popped in earlier this week to try what Shaka Poke on Baggot Street has on offer and were completely enamoured.

We tried the 'Ponzu party' bowl with salmon, avocado, edamame, cucumber and wakame seaweed, topped with citrus ponzu, spicy mayo and sesame seeds. After rigorously stirring all the contents in the bowl and achieving the perfect blend of flavours, the end result was amazing.
The raw fish was briny and fresh and the added spiciness from the sauce meshed perfectly with the more subtle flavour of the veggies.
We tried the increasingly popular nitro coffee latte as well, which is basically coffee infused with nitrogen gas. It was stronger and creamier than normal coffee with subtle natural sweetness.
The prices for the bowls were reasonable - regular bowls start from €10 and large ones from €12. Acai bowls are between €10 and €11 and nitro coffee starts from €5.
You can find out more about Shaka Poke on their website and their official Instagram page.
