For me, the definition of a summer dress is something that adds a pop of colour to your wardrobe.
Fashion retailer River Island is known for its vibrant prints and bright colours, and after visiting the store Church Street I was spoilt for choice to say the least. These days it can be hard to find summer dresses for affordable prices, and I for one have definitely noticed a price increase in stores like River Island.
However, I wanted to see if I could find some unique summer dresses that weren't too eye wateringly expensive. I found two very bright dresses that I need to tell you about.

River Island Yellow Linen Blend Smock Mini Dress - £43
A bold yellow like this isn't something I'd usually go for, but I really liked the fit and the design of this dress. It was super flattering on my shape and wasn't too tight on my stomach which was a total bonus.
The dress fell beautifully and can easily be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. I went for a size 10 for this dress, but I actually could've even sized down if I wanted a more snug fit.
The yellow shade is bright to say the least, and maybe not for everyone, but I felt like Belle from Beauty and The Beast when I wore this. There was something so elegant about the colour, and the material was thin and breathable making it perfect for the summer.

River Island Green Puff Sleeve Mini Dress - £39
Okay so full disclaimer - this dress was a little tight for me. The size 10 was slightly too tight around my chest, so I'd advise anyone who wants a looser fit to size up.
However, the actual colour of the dress was stunning, and so different! Similar to the previously mentioned yellow number, this green dress isn't for everyone, but it's definitely a unique option.
I think out of the two dresses this can definitely be worn for a special occasion like a wedding, with a pair of clashing colour heels or a nude. This green shade was a colour I really haven't seen a lot of yet, and that's one of the reasons why I love River Island.
The store isn't afraid of bold and vibrant prints, and I'm all for a bit of dopamine dressing, so I adored this dress in particular. Although it was a little tight on the chest, the puff sleeves added cute feminine detail which I really loved.
