I went to Primark to try and find a Grand National outfit for £20

I went to Liverpool’s Primark to see if I could find any Grand National outfits for under £20.

As Aintree's Grand National Festival is one of Liverpool’s most popular events of the year, and with it taking place very soon I decided to have a wander to Primark to see what outfits I could get my hands on. On the three days the Randox Grand National takes place, the world is watching Liverpool.

Thursday, April 13 is Randox Opening Day, featuring Grade One racing show-stoppers and is one of the highest quality race days in the racing calendar. April 14 is, of course, Ladies' Day which is full of fashion, colour and fun.

Finally, Saturday, April 15 is the legendary Randox Grand National Day where more than 500 million people in more than 140 countries stop and watch the race.

Everybody loves a bargain, and Primark especially is known for its affordable prices and its own versions from expensive brands. When I was in Primark, there were so many gorgeous outfits that could be worn for Aintree.

I tried four outfits on in total but I was conscious of finding an outfit that was still suitable but was as close to £20 as possible. There were so many beautiful spring coloured inspired outfits and I wish I could've got them all.

The dress:

I decided to choose the Abstract Wrap Mini Dress. It is a long sleeve satin midi dress with hues of blue, green, brown and beige.

The full product description of the dress read: “Defined by all-over painterly motifs, this abstract wrap midi dress is hands down a piece of art. At least we think so anyway, and honestly, we can only imagine you wholeheartedly agree.

“Made from lightweight fabric with an elegant drape that skims the figure, this colourful dress features a flattering V-neck, long sleeves and a wrap front that cinches in at the waist for a shapely silhouette.

“Completed to a midi length that rests below the knee, this design is made for pairing with heeled leather boots for a sophisticated ensemble that’s characterised by neutral hues interspersed with tonal blues and mossy greens. See, we did start this off by saying it’s a piece of artwork.”

The material of the dress was so soft and it had an elasticated waistband around the back making it even more comfortable. I loved the colours throughout the dress, especially the royal blue.

What crossed my mind also was, if any tipsy drink spillages were to go on the dress, you wouldn't be able to notice due to the print. Hint: My last Ladies' Day dress did not come home the same colour it went in.

Gold strappy heels paired with a gold handbag would compliment the dress perfectly and tie in perfectly with the colours. The dress was priced at £22 and even though I wanted to stick within my £20 price range, for an extra £2 I couldn’t justify not choosing this one. The dress is available in sizes four to 16.
