In September 2018 Kim Lowther, from Leeds, was diagnosed with bowel cancer. After various chemotherapy and drug treatments, Kim was getting better, until October 2019 when she told her family that it had come back and it was terminal.
Kim died on March 20, 2020, just a few days before the first UK lockdown came into place. Her son, David Lowther, watched her die and couldn't give her the send off she deserved, only to later find out that the government were secretly having wine and cheese nights and mocking the UK public.
David, from Leeds, spoke to LeedsLive about his mum and how difficult it was to come to terms with her death when no one was allowed within two metres of each other. He also talked about the 'betrayal' he and others felt when they couldn't have a normal goodbye.
