A man who was told he had stage four terminal cancer after finding a lump while shaving was offered a place in a radical new clinical trial - and has now been given the allear clear. Dad of two Micahl Schillinger, 57, was given the terminal diagnosis after finding a lump while shaving.
Michael, whose children are Ben, 16, and Kate, 12 said the diagnosis was a frightening and traumatic life-changing event. He said: "I remember thinking about my children, and it really hit me that they might have to grow up without a dad there to support them into adulthood. I wanted to keep things as normal as possible and didn't want them worrying.
"My wife Jackie was also extraordinary. She took on the entire responsibility for the family during that period."
