Bono was showered with praise last night after his gig at the Olympia Theatre.
The performance was part a tour promoting his first book, "Surrender: 40 songs, 1 story." The intimate show examines Bono and U2's musical success as well as his early years growing up in Dublin.
The audience was full of famous faces including President Michael D Higgins, Taoiseach Micheal Martin, Tanaiste Leo Varadkar, U2 bandmate Adam Clayton, director Jim Sheridan, singer Glen Hansard, Charlie Bird, and Bono's wife Ali and son John Hewson.

Tickets sold out immediately so only a small number of U2 fans were able to experience the special event. Each attendee was asked to place their phone in a sealed pouch for the duration of the show, which means there is no social media footage of Bono's performance.
While fans may have not been able to share videos, they flocked to Twitter to praise the 62-year-old singer for an incredible show. And one person told Dublin Live that it was "the best night of his life".
Another fan wrote on Twitter: "the Bono show tonight in the Olympia was without parallel. I am stunned," adding that they were "so lucky to be there."
Another person wrote: "Brilliant from start to finish. I've said it here before, music is food for the soul and with the stories to go with Bono at the Olympia theatre, tonight this was a feast."
One other fan wrote: "The show in Dublin had it all…concert, recital, drama, opera, tears and laughter" while another person said the gig was "extraordinary, funny, poignant, heartfelt, entertaining, insightful, uplifting, captivating."
Our favourite comment on the gig was: "Just saw Bono’s solo gig in the Olympia, what a show, that lad’ll go far!"
