'I was shamed for having a tiny baby bump - even my midwife told me off'

When Izzi Mitchell fell pregnant with her first child she couldn't wait to meet her baby girl and become a mum.

But after being inundated by cruel comments about the size of her bump, she ended up hiding it so she didn't have to defend it when people accused of her faking her pregnancy.

Even her midwife told her off for not eating enough and the father of her baby refused to believe she was even expecting.

The 20-year-old content creator, from Lincolnshire, fell pregnant at 19 but maintained her slender figure for most of the nine months and just looked like she was 'bloated'.

Izzi, who was able to fit into her skinny jeans throughout her pregnancy, also claims to have returned her regular size just four days after welcoming her daughter, Lottie.

She said: "I would always have people asking me to show them my scan photos to prove that I actually was pregnant.

"I just looked like I was bloated, I could fit into my size eight skinny jeans until I was 24 weeks pregnant it was great.

"I didn't look pregnant until I was 26 weeks.

"I thought I was just bloated and on my period as I started bleeding a little, but my friend told me to just do a random test just in case.

"Even my daughter's dad didn't believe me he couldn't believe how small the bump was."

Izzi claims small baby bumps run in her family as her mum was exactly the same when she was pregnant.

The mum continued to share how people thought she was only 12 weeks along when she was in her third trimester, due to her small bump.

"They would be shocked when I told them I was in my third trimester," she says. "People would ask me if I'm sure I'm pregnant, they'd also ask me if I was ill.

"Other people would also tell me I should eat more. My midwife even wrote in my notes that I had a bad diet, although I was actually eating.

"I knew I was pregnant from four weeks, I just didn't show it until really late on."

Due to all the nasty comments she received, Izzi started to hide her bump while she was pregnant so she didn't have to deal with the negativity.

"I would wear jumpers to hide my bump because I couldn't be bothered with the comments people would make," she explains.

"I would have other mums making comments about my body and that they found it really unfair.

"I just don't understand why mums don't want to support other mums, it's sad.

"I was ill but I was definitely pregnant, I did a few tests and they were all positive.

"I even bounced back four days after giving birth and got my flat stomach back, it was great.

"That meant people would also make negative comments towards that as well though.

"I now just respond agreeing and saying how amazing it is to be able to bounce back so quickly and that usually shuts down any negative comments."

Even today the mum is still receiving comments about her pregnancy, with people telling her she must think she's 'better' than others because she didn't put on much weight.

But Izzi is just ignoring it now and trying to "laugh it off".

She added: "People would tell me I think I'm better than others but that really isn't the case and I've never said that.

"You definitely need a thick skin and I am lucky it doesn't bother me.

"My mum just told me to embrace the fact I have my body back.

"I'm not someone who gets offended easily, I just laugh it off."
