A brand new Home Bargains has opened its doors in Leeds and being a sucker for a cheap deal I just had to check it out.
The store has reopened in Roundhay Road, Roundhay, Oakwood, Leeds. It is open seven days a week and customers can get their hands on discounted food, clothes, and fragrances.
The Oakwood shop has been closed since New Year's Eve 2022 to undergo a huge makeover. It reopened on Thursday, March 2, and has proven to be popular already.

I am one of those classic bargain shoppers who goes into Home Bargains "to save money" on one item, but ends up coming out with 50 things "I had to have". So, of course when I heard about the reopening of the Oakwood spot my eyes perked up.
The shop is really easy to find as there is a large sign that can be seen on Roundhay Road. The entrance way can be accessed via a side street where there is also a car park.
I was in need of a few bits and bobs - including snacks, cleaning products, pasta sauce, and I wanted to find a water bottle for work-outs too, so I was hoping the new store would do the trick. I have visited a number of the chains across Yorkshire and particularly love shopping in the Merrion Centre store in Leeds city centre as it is close to home. The Oakwood store is around a 15 minute drive for me, so I was keen to see if it was worth the journey.
Walking in on a Wednesday afternoon, it was a lot busier than I had expected. I was impressed by how spacious the aisles are and love the new modern interior. I often feel in a Home Bargains, you tend to find a mix of different things on the shelves next to one another - the biscuits on one aisles and then you turn around and see cleaning products.
What I love about the makeover is they have separated the sections well so everything is easy to find, and customers have a lot of space to shop. No chance of a trolley collision!
Above each section are big red signs, including 'seasonal', 'pet care', 'groceries', 'beers and wine', and more. With Mother's Day approaching, there is a hugely impressive selection of gifts, cards, and accessories. Honestly, I wouldn't normally choose Home Bargains to shop for gifts but the range on offer is incredible - nothing like I have seen in other Yorkshire Home Bargains stores.
As this marks 100 years of Disney, there is a wonderful Disney section, filled with notepads, branded storage, pens, bags, home accessories, water bottles and more. Inspired by Khloe Kardashian (don't judge) who always carries round a large two litre water bottle, I really wanted one similar. They are completely sold out online but I managed to find two in the Oakwood store for £3.99 each.
Anyone with pets would love the new store as there is a double large aisle filled with pet food, medicines, and accessories. I have never really thought about doing a full food shop in home bargains, due to the lack of fresh items, but the Oakwood store now has a large refrigerated area so doing a big food shop is 100 percent possible.
I was really impressed by the snacks on offer, particularly the biscuits; there was some amazing shortbread tins that would easily cost£20 in Harrods. Thankfully in Home Bargains they cost less than £5. In comparison to other Home Bargains that I have visited, the Oakwood store is at the top for variety of products that I have not seen anywhere else.
I spent £32.89 and bought:
- 2X two litre water bottles
- Milk
- Spaghetti pasta
- Robert's sandwich slices
- Saltz mini crackers
- Snack A Jacks rice cakes
- Twin pack of Hobnob's
- Pesto sauce
- Four pack of toilet rolls
- Dish Matic sponge
- The Pink Stuff miracle toilet cleaner
- Domestos double toilet cleaners
- Galaxy Movie Night set - including five hot chocolate satches, sprinkles, popcorn marshmallows, chocolate drops
