TikTok is a goldmine for people sharing genius hacks on a number of topics from losing weight to saving money. While some advice is more dubious than others, every now and again you stumble across something that seems to be working for everyone who tries it.
And that's definitely the case with Adam Birk's tutorials on his weight loss journey. Towards the end of last year, the 25-year-old decided to start using a weighted hula hoop, in the hopes he would shed the pounds.
While some in the comments were negative towards the idea and told him just to go to the gym, most people were supportive and others even hopeful it worked as they wanted to start hooping themselves.

Adam has now been using a weighted hula hoop for around 120 days and it's clear to see that it has definitely worked for him. At the start of his weight loss journey, Adam said he weighed 143 kg which is equivalent to 22.5 stone, by day 110 he had managed to lose nearly four stones weighing in at 18.78 stone.
He says it's the 'happiest he's ever been' after years of people calling him 'fatty', telling him to go and eat another 'Maccies' and cruelly saying 'you'll always be fat'.
Since the start, Adam has been going live every day on his TikTok account at 5:30pm for an hour, where he encourages others to hoop along with him. During his hour sessions, he claims to lose around 1,000 calories, which alongside eating in a calorie deficit would explain the incredible levels of weight he has managed to lose..
One of his followers said: "You're amazing! Since following you six weeks ago, I've lost 19.5lb." Another said: "Because of you inspiring me to buy the hoop I've lost 3 stone and Soo happy with myself I honestly can't thankyou enough."
The main weighted hula hoop brand is K Smart which has two different options for customers to choose from. The standard hoop, which most have been using from the start, currently costs £34.99 on Amazon while the newer, quieter hoop, is currently on Amazon for a price of £49.99. There are cheaper options around as well.
It may not be the easiest to start off with but it sure is a fun way to exercise and definitely gets rid of the gym membership fee each month.
