I must say, TK Maxx is a guilty pleasure of mine. You can’t beat a TK Maxx bargain.
I went to my nearest TK Maxx in Liverpool this week on the hunt to understand what secret codes were on which items in the store. The secret codes tells customers if what they’re looking at is a real bargain, or something which was never in reality sold at the higher price.
The three secret coded numbers that you need to keep an eye out for on labels are '1', '2' and '7'.

If you spot a code '1', this means you are going to get good value for money as the item will have been produced in large amounts meaning they can price it cheaper.
If you see the code '2' typically on the second line from top - it's genuine unsold stock from popular brands that was once sold at a higher price so it means you’re getting a bargain. A man who once worked at TK Maxx actually revealed you should look for the number '2' on labels.
Finally, the code '7' indicates that the product has been packed away from the previous year.
After enjoying my time far too much, snooping around finding the secret codes on different items, I gathered some items which all had different codes.
I started my mission trying to find code '1's. I found a pair of diamante earrings that were originally £110 but in TK Maxx are sold at £19.99.
I absolutely love the jewellery in TK Maxx so refraining myself from purchasing any was proving difficult as you get jewellery items at an amazingly cheap price compared to what they once were.
I then moved onto the beauty section keeping an eye out for code '2's here as this is where the real bargains happen. The first product I saw with a code '2' was an Aqua Di Parma aftershave which was originally sold at £113 but in TK Maxx it was sold at £74.99. That seems like a bargain to me.
After scouring through the beauty section, I soon realised that most beauty products were labelled code '2'.
TK Maxx always sells amazing designer sunglasses and now that I know about the secret codes, most if not all sunglasses are labelled with codes '7' meaning they have been packed away from a previous year.
I ended my trip around TK Maxx at the pet aisle (as I have a slight obsession with my dog). After seeing this toy, I couldn't resist buying it. And even better that the code on the label was number '2'.
