'I use my baby's old clothes as toilet paper - we just wipe, wash and reuse them'

A mum who tries her best to provide an eco-friendly environment for her family has revealed how she makes use of her son's old clothes.

Mum-of-one Alice has attracted a following of more than 70,000 people on her TikTok ( @crunchyipadbaby ), with videos of her alternative lifestyle and parenting style, from not enforcing a sleep schedule on her 18-month-old son Fern, or allowing him to eat dirt and rocks.

But one video has caught more attention than most.

Alice explained that when Fern's clothes are no longer appropriate to wear, for example, if they're stained or they don't fit anymore, they're given another use.

Her family use them as toilet paper.

In a video that has been viewed more than one million times, Alice shows several stained short-sleeved vests sitting on top of the toilet.

Since being posted, the video has racked up more than 64,000 likes and dozens of comments, many from viewers who seemed to like the idea.

"My mum did this with all my baby clothes when I was younger, except she made rags out of them, we still have some," shared one viewer.

"That is so smart Alice!," added another. "But I'd be way too sentimental to wipe my but with a favourite onesie."

While a third suggested: "You should cut them up for easier use."

Someone else revealed that they tie-dye all of the stained onesies, and another put: "That’s actually genius especially because the fabric of the clothes is softer than the towels."

Alice later confirmed that she washes the old baby clothes after each use, along with the towels they use for the bidet.

This comes as a mum sparks a breastfeeding debate after posting a video on TikTok explaining how she taught her two-year-old son boundaries.
