It's quite scary what artificial intelligence can do these days. In the last few weeks I've seen AI that can write a detailed resignation letter to your boss and another that turns your selfies into works of art - all at the click of a button.
But now a new AI trend has taken TikTok by storm and it seems to work on anything. AI Manga has already been used for over 75 million videos. It transforms photos into manga- and anime-style images in real-time and the results are pretty cool.
Most people have been using it on selfies or pets - but it does also work on landscape type shots. With this in mind, we decided to have a bit of fun and see what would happen if we used the filter on some of Manchester's best known sights and landmarks.
These were the results.
A tram at Cornbrook
The filter definitely gave the Metrolink a more modern, almost futuristic feel. It also definitely looked a bit fresher - and cleaner. Perhaps one to model future Manchester tram designs on?
Beetham Tower
It may no longer be the tallest building in Manchester, but Beetham Tower remains a prominent focal point in the city's iconic skyline. Above is what happened when we tried out the AI filter on it - what do you think?
Piccadilly Gardens
It's no secret that Piccadilly Gardens needs a bit of work. Long gone are the days when the gardens were just that - a beautiful garden in the heart of the city, full of flowers and shrubbery. The AI Manga filter certainly cleaned the area - and surrounding buildings up. It actually looks quite inviting.
