It would be an understatement to say that the weather this week is warm, with the UK facing its first ever Red weather warning everyone is looking for quick fixes to cool down.
Now I've tried many tricks, keeping my window closed to prevent a hot breeze and spending a lot of time investigating my freezer, but the most effective thing I've found is my Dyson Hot + Cool Purifier. As far as devices go, it's not the cheapest costing over £500 but once you take into consideration that this one machine works as an air purifier for hayfever season, can cool you down like air conditioning unit and can warm up a room in minutes during the winter it starts to make much more sense why there's a hefty price tag.
With an easy to use remote you can control how cold your room gets, how strong the fan is and whether it rotates. It's recommended, if you want to take full advantage of the air purification, that you keep doors and windows closed to have full effect in the room.

I have had no issues doing this and found that I have the only room in the entire house that has managed to stay cool in the ridiculous heat. While the fan itself is huge and certainly becomes a staple in any room, it feels just like air conditioning. In fact, I would say that it's even better than air conditioning because of the easy customisation and how close I can get.
I find sometimes on holiday air conditioning only hits one part of the room and leaves me wanting for more. Unlike common air conditioning units, the Dyson Hot + Cool doesn't need you to have part of it leading outside which I find is much more efficient for space and makes it less of an eyesore.
One thing I love about this device is how versatile it is, it can be adjusted to suit my personal needs. It does use up a lot of energy, with my energy bill jumping from around £40 to over £100 in the summer when I was using this day and night.
For those who have the cash to spare, I would strongly recommend this fan which you can buy here directly from Dyson or from Currys with free next day delivery. If you're looking for heatwave hacks on a budget then we've got you covered, with some tips and tricks from our team below.
