I tried the Beefeater Valentine's Day menu and it was amazing despite a rather fiery tomato

Whether you go with a partner, friends or even your parents, I highly recommend sampling a Beefeater restaurant to try their Valentine’s Day menu.

I went to the Boathouse Beefeater chain on Castle Marina and left satisfied and full.

I went for the 3 course meal - because I was hungry - and it cost £22.95 but if you aren't feeling as hungry there's a two course meal for £19.95.

On arrival, I was warmly welcomed and noticed the pink balloons at the entrance.

My order was taken quickly and I sat with my mum as I had a non alcoholic drink in the fairly quiet restaurant with music played at low volume.

For my starter, I had the cheesy filled mushrooms and I must say not only did it look fancy but it tasted amazing. If you’re a lover of cheese and mushrooms this starter is for you - if you’re not a fan of rocket however not to worry, I’m sure you could ask a member of staff to tell the chef to take it off.

For my main, I had steak (medium rare) and fries and it was great - my only criticism was that the tomato it came with was too seasoned with pepper - it was really spicy.

The fries it came with were well cooked because there’s nothing worse than under cooked chips and I always feel awkward complaining to a waiter or telling them that something with my meal isn’t quite right.

But overall, my steak was lovely. No complaints from me. Juicy, succulent and not too chewy.

And next for dessert, I got stuck. It was between the chocolate brownie or the fondue - which the waitress said was new so I went for that.

And again, no complaints.

When you’re only criticism about a menu is a well seasoned tomato that was spicy, you know it’s worth your money.

If you don't fancy anything on the Valentine's Day menu, of course, the regular menu is still available. My mum got a fish sandwich with fries off the regular menu and said: "I enjoyed my meal and would come again however, the fries were too salty for my liking but the dessert was right up my street. The waitress who served us was lovely and there was a nice atmosphere in the restaurant."

It's safe to say, I'll definitely be going back to Beefeater again.
