I tried Superdrug's new hair care range where everything is under £6

Superdrug have launched their own purse-friendly line of hair care where everything is under £6. And what’s more is that it’s currently on buy one get one half price.

Following the success of the budget skincare range Me+, which the health and beauty retailer launched in 2019, the new ingredient-led skincare targets a host of hair solutions.

The idea is that people should really be taking as good of care of their hair as they do their skin, seeing as your scalp is essentially an extension of your face.

The range, which features shampoos, conditioners and treatment oils, is entirely vegan and cruelty free, with bottles made of 100% recycled material that are also 100% recyclable - including the pump.

I’ve always had a bit of a love-hate relationship with my hair, but that’s probably because I don’t know nearly enough about my hair type to give it what it really needs.

I’d previously always found it to go oily quite quickly until I got my fringe bleached, which was when I found my hair struggling with dryness. But then I also found drying my hair a total chore because it takes so long, however the Pro Tools Hot Brush does help.

I gave some of the Me+ hair care range a try and found that, not only did my hair dry much quicker, but it looked healthier, felt softer and was less frizzy around my bleached areas, too.

I started off with a double shampoo with the Me+ Argan Oil shampoo, which retails at £4.99. The first wash helps remove dirt and product build up, while the second actually nourishes the hair and gives it that clean look and feel.

The Me+ Argan Oil Shampoo is sulphate-free and formulated to gently cleanse, restore moisture and leave damaged hair feeling strengthened. It also features hyaluronic acid in its ingredients list, which is a hydrating superhero active ingredient used in a lot of skin care moisturisers.

What’s great is that it’s suitable for damaged, dry and chemically treated hair, meaning it would work magic on the whole head of hair - bleached parts included.

I followed it up with the Me+ Argan Oil Conditioner, which - like the shampoo - comes in a pump dispensing bottle. It has a really subtle fragrance and creamy texture that feels really nice as you run it through your hair.

After rinsing my hair and lightly towel drying it, I added a few drops of the Me+ Universal hair oil, which costs £5.99, which is great for adding shine to the hair.

Made with Argan, babassu coconut and flaxseed oils, it helps with detangling and priming the hair ready for styling, without leaving it looking oily afterwards. The nourishing formula tames flyaways improves split ends and leaves hair feeling less dry.

Finally, there’s the Me+ Hair Keratin Heat Defence Serum, made with plant keratin and bamboo leaf extract. It’s a great heat protector best used ahead of blow drying or straightening hair as it can provide protection for up to 200 degrees celsius of heat.

I was keen to use this product on my bleached fringe to help protect it from any damage and found it absorbed quickly. When I styled my hair, it didn’t look frazzled or frizzy, which suggests it did its job.

My hair felt really healthy after using the Me+ products, and while I normally wouldn’t pay £4.99 for a shampoo, I’d definitely buy their shampoo and conditioner again - especially if it stays on buy one get one half price.
