Shoppers have been wowed after discovering a 'dupe' of the popular Zara patterned shirt dress in Primark.
Primark recently released a £14 dress that was labelled a ‘dupe’ of a £32.99 Zara dress from last summer. I decided to go on the hunt for it myself in Liverpool’s Primark and try it on.
The Primark Patterned Shirt Dresses are available in two different colours and patterns. One is a bright floral green and cream while the other is brightly patterned pink and cream.
Here's how I got on.
The hunt:
Everybody loves a bargain, and Primark especially is known for its affordable prices and its own versions of expensive brands, so I was very excited to find this dress and finally be able to make my own mind up on it.
After eagerly scanning every item of clothing in Primark, I got off the escalator on the first floor and there they were. They had both the pink and the green dresses available in the shop.
I rummaged through the dresses to pick out my size before heading to the fitting rooms. The green dress wasn’t available in my size, so I was only able to try the pink version on.
The verdict:
I unbuttoned the shirt and popped it on excitedly, to then look in the mirror and resemble a sack of potatoes from the shop. The dress hung on me like a hospital gown, it was not a good look to say the least.
It also doesn’t help that I do not have height on my side as I am only 5ft.1. Without the belt, the dress came half way down my shins. It also completely covered my hands completely as the sleeves were so long for some reason.
Before I tied the belt around my waist, I still had a glimmer of hope that I would be able to improve the overall look of the dress on me but oh was I wrong. Even with the belt on, I absolutely hated it. It gaped in every place possible and hung off me.
I’m sure however, my experience of the said dress will not be as disastrous for others as it was for me but unfortunately, it is a firm no from me and it was left unbought.
