Like many of us, although I love to eat, I’m always looking for a healtiher and convenient option for dinner.
I’m no culinary whizz and oftentimes after work, I’m looking to get in and out of the kitchen as quickly as I possibly can.
So I decided to try out one of the popular healthy food subscription services in the UK, Green Chef.
I was keen to try the company out after recently sampling some delicious recipes from parent company, HelloFresh - which is one of the most popular recipe subscriptions in the UK at the moment.
I was really excited to try one of the brand’s flexitarian options of Honey Mustard BBQ Pork Fillet which is served with Sweet Potato Wedges and a Carrot & Apple Slaw.
And for those of you who are like me and can't think of anything worse than standing over a cooker for hours on end, this only took me 45 minutes from start to finish.
My meal box from Green Chef arrived in the time slot that was allocated to me the previous day, as expected it arrived on time and was perfectly packaged.
Just like when I recieved the box from HelloFresh, all of the meat products were separated from the vegetables and condiments. An easy to follow recipe guide was also included.
Again everything is pre portioned before hand to accomodate the amount of poeple you're cooking for - in my case, there's two of us.
But you can choose recipes for up to four people, with the choice to recieve up to five meals a week for just £5.37 per serving, plus a £3.99 delivery fee.
So here's what I thought about the Honey Mustard BBQ Pork Fillet.
I was a little bit apprehensive about how the pork would turn out because I hate dry meat, but was pleasently surpirsed how tender and succulent the meat was. There was even enough left over for seconds.
I enjoyed cutting up and preparing the sweet potato wedges, but one of my favourite parts of this meal prep was actually my new-found favourite side.
The apple and carrot slaw was the trimming I didn’t know that I needed, but I honestly loved it and I’ve made it a few times on my own since receiving the box.
From start to finish I spent around 50 minutes in the kitchen overall - which is just about right before my restlessness begins to set in.
I'd give this Green Chef meal a strong 8 out of 10.
