We've all seen that McDonald's advert by now, haven't we? The one with the eyebrows.
Well it clearly works on some level, because earlier this week I found myself with an uncontrollable urge to visit the place with the golden arches. And given there's a new menu, I thought I'd be a bit more adventurous - if you can be such a thing while visiting McDonald's.
Earlier this month, the fast food giant announced its McSpicy chicken burger is returning to its menu permanently this month "by popular demand".

The spicy alternative to McDonald's usual offerings is described as a "spicy chicken breast fillet topped with crunchy cool lettuce and mayo between toasted sesame seed buns". It claims it will be "a sure-fire hit for fans nationwide who have flooded McDonald’s social channels demanding the return of this much-loved menu item."
McDonald's is keen for diners to enter into a debate over the heat of the burger - is it too hot to handle? But given that the chain is hardly known for its extreme flavours, I wasn't convinced.
My first impressions of the burger were that it looked nothing like the pictures I'd seen. But isn't this the case for literally every McDonald's menu item, ever?
There was minimal sauce and lettuce, which I was initially disappointed about, but actually if you have too much of either of these it can leave your burger soggy. And nobody wants that.
I also noticed was the smell of the spices coming from the burger before I'd even lifted it towards my mouth. After this, I was expecting some heat but the first bite was a bit of a let down.
It seemed to be a crispy chicken burger with a Nando's Mild style kick, until I took another few bites. It was weird, it seemed the spiciness is a delayed reaction, and three bites was what was needed for some fire in my belly.
By the time I was half way through the burger, I have to admit I was reaching for my Sprite. I feel I must add, though, it's not unbearably spicy.
In terms of taste and texture, the chicken was tasty and just crispy enough. The cool sauce compliments the heat, and I would be willing to be so bold as to say this is McDonald's best chicken burger.
The heat is similar to that of a Mexican dish, and if you like spice, this burger is definitely one for you. I'd advise the faint hearted to choose something like a Chicken Mayo instead, though.
