If you struggle with tired eyes in the morning, I would definitely recommend sampling Holly Willoughby 's go-to beauty product. This month the This Morning presenter revealed which special eye product helps her to look fresh and bright on one of the nation's favourite morning TV shows.
It's become a monthly ritual for her Glam Team to talk people through the TV star's fashion and beauty tips on the website of her lifestyle brand - Wylde Moon. In the March edition, Holly's makeup artist and beauty consultant Patsy O’Neill takes people through some amazing beauty tips that she usually keeps just for Holly. Patsy also talked about the go-to product she uses on Holly if she needs to brighten her eyes during the morning, and it only costs around £17.
The secret product is Liz Earle's Eyebright Soothing Eye Cleanser, and I decided to see if it was all it cracked up to be. I should start off by saying I'm a fan of Liz Earle's skincare range.
I use the Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser, and think it's excellent for maintaining healthy, clear skin (aside from the odd spot that everyone gets now and again). The cleanser is also really good for gently exfoliating the skin, and helping to clear any flakes of occasional dry skin you may sometimes experience on the face.
Due to my love for the face cleanser, I had high hopes for the Eyebright Soothing Eye Cleanser, and to be honest it didn't leave me disappointed. When it comes to skincare, the eye area is probably the area I have neglected the most, and as I get closer to approaching the age of 30 I'll definitely be looking at sampling a few eye creams in the not-too-distant future.
But if you're looking for an eye product to try that's easy to use, can be applied quickly and that definitely makes you look more awake, I'd say this is a good starting point. On the Liz Earle website, the product is described in the following way: "Gently cleanses and revitalises tired, puffy-looking eyes. Our light, non-oily herbal formula gently removes final traces of eye make up while soothing and hydrating the delicate eye area."
Having used it for nearly a week, I can confirm it does just that. To use the product, all I did was apply a little of it to two cotton pads and gently swept them over the eye area.
The first time I used it, it definitely made my eyes feel different. They instantly felt brighter which, in turn, made me feel more awake. As I continued to use the product each morning for the next few days I found it really made a difference to my morning routine. Using it made my eyes feel a lot brighter, and they started to look less tired the more regularly I used it.
Even when I wasn't wearing make-up I felt like the area around my eyes looked less drawn, and I just felt like using it gave me a bit of a lift in the mornings, which is always a good thing. I can see why it's the go-to product for the mum and TV presenter, as it must make such a difference to how lively she feels during the early morning shows. As for the price of it, I think £17 for 150ml bottle is reasonable.
This is because you only need to use a little amount each morning, so it's going to last you a good few months. Not to mention the product is cruelty free, and it's also suitable for all skin types.
Obviously, if you suffer with dark circles, nothing can work actual magic. We can't wave a magic wand and erase the dark shadows that sometimes linger under our eyes, but we can use things that make us feel better.
I think this product will definitely help you to achieve less tired-looking eyes, and will also make you feel pretty fabulous on a morning where you'd rather more-likely-than-not stay in bed. But if you feel like you need a little more help with covering up darker areas try introducing a good skin corrector into your make-up routine, such as those available by brands like Bobbi Brown, Charlotte Tilbury and Maybelline.
Liz Earle's Eyebright Soothing Eye Cleanser is available at the website, but you can also find it at John Lewis and Boots. You may also find various skin corrector products on these websites. To keep up to date with all the latest lifestyle news sign up to the WalesOnline newsletter.
