With Christmas fast approaching, people up and down the country will be busy shopping for the best turkey and all the trimmings for Christmas Day.
But for the millions of us who are vegetarian or vegan it can sometimes be tricky to find appetising meat alternatives - as they are renowned for being boring, dry or uninspiring.
So I decided to try some of the best supermarket nut roasts to the test, to give you an idea of what could accompany your vegetables, stuffing and Yorkshire Puddings this Christmas.
This week I have tried nut roasts from Aldi, Lidl, Sainsbury's and Iceland and here are my ratings for all of them.
Aldi root vegetable and Camembert nut roast: 4/5
Aldi's innovative nut roast is a real treat for veggies and at £2.99 it is certainly an affordable option as well.
With a rich and gooey Camembert centre, each bite melts in your mouth and leaves you feeling pretty stuffed by the end of it - an impressive feat for nut roasts.
Around the Camembert is the crumbly texture of the root vegetables which fall right off with the slightest of pressure from the fork, and you also get a delightful nutty taste to them as cashews are cased around the camembert.
Plus it comes in a pack of two if there are other vegetarians round the table, or you want to leave something extra to enjoy with leftovers on Boxing Day.
In all, this is certainly one to brighten up your Christmas Dinner plate and leave you just as full as the meat-eaters this year.
Lidl sage, onion, hazelnut and mushroom vegan nut roast: 4/5
This vegan nut roast is a great alternative for the all non-meat eaters this year. The vegan nut roast sits at just £3.99 at stores across the country.
The star dish also comes with an indulgent and rich vegan gravy, which is a brilliant bonus for anyone who loves lashings of the brown stuff on their plates.
The flakiness of the nut roast is the treat with this as it is such a tender texture with a lovely nutty aftertaste.
The sage and onion flavour really pack a punch, which makes this nut roast more like a huge serving of stuffing than a traditional veggie offering, which is a total dream for any stuffing fans.
There are a lot of mushrooms in this dish, but haters of the vegetable shouldn't be put off as the flavour is very subtle and simply adds a richness to the roast.
Sainsbury's mushroom and chestnut nut roast with mushroom gravy: 3/5
The Sainsbury's nut roast with the Mushroom gravy comes just around the middle of the pack. For all mushroom lovers, this could be the one for you.
The nut roast itself is very flaky and tender with a nice nutty and stuffing-like aftertaste. While the mushroom flavour is present, it doesn't overpower the dish which is a win-win.
I'd say the Sainsbury's offering lacks some of the creativity that many the others in this review have, but it's still a good quality nut roast for those who want a classic option.
At £3.25 a portion, it is also a very affordable dish.
This generously sized nut roast comes in loaf form, so you will certainly be able to save some for intrigued family or (more likely) yourself on Boxing Day.
Iceland luxury festive roast: 5/5
At a mere £2.75, Iceland's luxury festive roast is the cheapest of any in this taste test and I have to say, it is also the best.
Its mix of vegetables, lentils and brown rice with cranberry and onion chutney makes this a packed but delightful treat for vegans this festive period.
Once cooked this nut roast has a lovely crispy top which gives you a crunch to accompany the rich taste of vegetables and chutney.
Plus, the nut roast comes as one dish but it is certainly more than one portion so it can be saved for later or for those Boxing Day leftovers.
In all, if you are catering for vegetarians or vegans this Christmas I would recommend this product as it is sure to brighten up any Christmas Dinner.
