Egg chairs have become a real trend over the past few years, so when I moved into my new flat, I knew I just had to fill my empty terrace with one.
The egg chair has also become a favourite piece of furniture for many celebs including cleaning sensation Mrs Hinch, while budget supermarket Aldi has seen large queues form when the hanging egg chair is launched as part of its 'special buys'.
But, seeing as Aldi’s egg chair is pretty hard to get hold of, I decided to expand my egg chair search and found one that is similar in price, style, size and most importantly in stock.

Delivery

Like with many large items when ordering online, you’re normally expected to pay a little more for delivery, and in this instance, Homebase charges an extra £12.50 for named day delivery from Monday to Friday.
If you’d like it delivered on a Saturday it’ll cost you £20. Although this sounds pretty hefty, it means you can choose which day you’d like to receive your item/items to make sure you don’t miss the delivery.
The egg chair arrived in a medium-sized box, which easily fit through my door and the weight of the box was pretty manageable, however I would suggest getting someone to help you if you’re planning on lifting it.
Assembly

Now I am the first to admit that building doesn’t really suit me (or my freshly painted nails) so it was my partners job to put the chair together while I ‘supervised’.
The chair came in about six different parts to form the base, the chair itself, the frame for it to be hung onto and a comfy grey cushion to finish off the look.
According to my partner, the instructions were easy to follow with six simple steps telling you how to attach the screws into the holes on the base and frame. There’s a spanner tool included, however my partner said it lacked grip, resulting in some of the screws not twisting in as far as he’d like. When it came to attaching the egg onto the frame, this is definitely a two-person job due to the heaviness.
It took my partner around an hour and a half to put together the chair.
Design and comfort:

Overall I’d say I’m really impressed with the design. The synthetic rattan material is sturdy and water-resistant with no signs of wear and tear, which I’ve found can be quite common with rattan furniture.
The heavy steel legs and stand keep the chair firmly on the ground, so there’s little chance of it toppling over (but it’s not endured a thunderstorm yet, so I'll have to hope for the best.)
As our terrace is only small, we were slightly worried about it taking up too much space, however it fits absolutely perfectly and goes really well with our other rattan furniture set.
So, whilst the sun was shining, I seized the opportunity to try out my new egg chair - and what I discovered was pure bliss.
Straight away I was surprised at just how comfy it was, especially with the included padded grey cushion.
It rocks slightly when you’re sat in it which I found really relaxing, and even creates a little breeze when the sun’s shining - I could honestly sit in it all day.
One fault to note is that the chair doesn't seem to hang straight and sways to the side. As well as this, the chair doesn't come with a cover, which I think is essential for outdoor furniture.
If you do want to buy a cover to protect your new chair, we bought this one from Amazon for £17.98 and it fits perfectly.
Im definitely impressed with the egg chair and would recommend getting your hands on it before it sells out!
