With The Grand National very much on the horizon, I've been on the hunt for a fun but comfortable suit to wear throughout the day.
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore wearing dresses, but I also love that 'extra smart' feeling when wearing a suit. The problem is, so many suits I've tried in the past have either been uncomfortable or not flattering at all - until now.
I was browsing on the Matalan website on the look out for something bold and beautiful, and came across a vibrant hot pink Et Vous Pink Linen Blend Suit Blazer and trouser set.

The Et Vous Pink Linen Blend Suit Blazer is priced at £32, with the matching Et Vous Pink Linen Blend Suit Trousers priced at £21. I really wanted to find a suit that wasn't too heavy or uncomfortable, and this linen suit offered the perfect solution.
Of course, British weather can be very unpredictable, and I'm not expecting The Grand National to see scorching sun, but I still wanted to find a cool yet smart option in a fun colour. This suit offers just that, along with two front pockets which is always a bonus.
On the Matalan website, the full product description reads: "Show everyone that you mean business in this statement suit blazer from the Et Vous collection. In a bold shade of pink and fashioned with lightweight, wrinkle-resistant fabric to keep you looking smart all day long, they're finished with long sleeves, a collared neckline, as well as two front pockets for added practicality. Model Height: 5ft 9 1/2."
I decided to get both the blazer and trousers in a size 12, which is my usual size, and both ended up fitting me perfectly. I was a little conscious that the trousers would be too tight or ill-fitting, but I was really chuffed with this Matalan pair.
Usually, I like my clothes to fit me slightly oversized, and this suit offered the perfect blend of oversized and flattering. At first, I was a little worried about how I'd style such a bold and vibrant colour, but I replicated the model photo with a white shirt and white boots and I was really happy with the end result.
The suit felt light and breathable, yet still looked effortlessly smart which I was a big fan of. The blazer hung beautifully without looking too baggy, and the colour was even better in person - which I didn't think was possible.
Of course, a bold shade like this isn't for everyone, but I think this suit is incredibly versatile because you can wear both pieces separately. The blazer could work on its own for work, dinner out, or cocktails, as could the trousers.
The pockets on the blazer and the black buttons were a really great feature, and the trousers fit me really well. For once in my life, a pair of trousers actually fit my 5'3 frame, which I was over the moon about.
