Bristol has many different ways to travel around the city, from buses to the newer e-scooters, people have a range of choices for how they want to get from point A to point B. But one popular mode of transport to get to your destination without worry is through the use of a taxi, which Bristol is definitely not short of.
As you walk around the city, you won’t be able to miss the immense multitude of blue taxis driving around or outside busy hotspots like Temple Meads station, which require no booking at all. However, in the past 10 years the rise of Uber taxis has taken the country by storm with their quick booking system which provides passengers with rides in just a few minutes.
Despite having had the app for a while, I have never gotten around to actually using it as I normally walk everywhere. But I decided I would try it out for the first time to see what my experience would be like.

I have always found taxi rides to be really awkward, especially when it comes to maintaining small talk with the drivers, who themselves are usually really nice. So I opened my app and with the help of a colleague, I managed to set up a journey to take me where I wanted to go.
The actual process of booking the taxi on the app was slightly confusing. While I had set my pick-up point at one location, it seemed to change position once I went in to actually book the ride. Thankfully I was able to sort the problem and book my taxi really easily.
Now when I was doing this, I will admit I felt really apprehensive and nervous, probably because it's something I don’t do a lot and am not a big fan of. However, once I was in the taxi I was more comfortable and the driver was really nice and smiley. The journey was relatively smooth and easy, with very little traffic at that time of the day, so my driver was able to get to my destination in a quick time.
I wouldn’t say that I am now a taxi lover but I do feel like if I need to go a further distance, I am happy booking an Uber, which I found to be much cheaper than a normal taxi. I will still be walking most of the time but Uber wasn’t as bad as I originally thought.
