'I swear to you' - Benfica star Darwin Nunez stunned by what Alisson did for Liverpool

Benfica striker Darwin Nunez was left stunned by Alisson's save in the second-half of the Champions League clash at Anfield.

Liverpool got the job done with a 6-4 aggregate win, but only managed a 3-3 draw on the night as the Portuguese outfit went toe-to-toe with Jurgen Klopp's heavily rotated side. Ibrahima Konate was once again on the scoresheet, as was Roberto Firmino with the double.

But Nunez was one of the standout performers for the visitors and his 81st minute strike gave his side a glimmer of hope they could achieve the unthinkable. They may well have done, if not for a sensational save from goalkeeper Alisson.

Shortly after scoring Benfica's third goal of the night, the Uruguay international was in once again and he struck a forceful volley aimed at the bottom corner of the goal. It looked like it was bound to ripple the back of the net, but the Brazilian was able to dive in time to push it away and prevent an intense end to the game.

Speaking at full-time, Nunez was asked about his effort and the save to deny him and he admitted it was 'incredible'.

"That Alisson save? That was incredible. I swear to you, I saw the ball going in.. and then it wasn't," he told Sky in Italy.

Alisson was full of praise for the 22-year-old forward before the match, describing him as a 'strong striker'. He told a press conference on Tuesday: "They have quick strikers, they have a strong striker as a No.9.

"They gave us a lot of work to do, but we are ready to face them, we are ready and prepared to face that match and to achieve our goals."
