"I stayed at a £61-a-night Wetherspoons hotel and put snobbery aside"

While most people know Wetherspoons for its cheap pints and meals, not everyone knows that a select number of the pubs across the UK also offer hotel rooms too. In total 57 Wetherspoons pubs offer the option of a stayover - and a pretty cheap hotel stay at that, with room prices starting from as little as £56 a night.

Here in the the north west there's the option of The Brocket Arms in Wigan and the Bull and Stirrup in Chester. But for those heading off to Wales on their hols or a mini-break, there's the choice of four Wetherspoon pubs that offer hotel rooms - in Bridgend, Brecon, Monmouth and Ruthin.

Our colleagues at sister site Wales Online deciding to check in to a 'Spoons Hotel for themselves to check it all out. Reporter Ffion Lewis admitted she was pleasantly surprised by the offering, paying £61 to stay in a double room at the Wyndham Arms Hotel in Bridgend, South Wales.
